17 destinations – also for Tanzania.
SCHULBANK e.V. bases its work on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs for short).
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are goals that aim to change our world. They have replaced the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which expired in 2015, but build on them.
The SDGs expanded the previous eight thematic areas of the MDGs to 17 goals with 169 sub-goals. The first goal is to end poverty everywhere in the world. The fight against hunger and access to clean water for all will also continue to be pursued. In order to achieve these goals, a more holistic approach is being pursued, which also includes infrastructure, gender equality, climate protection, ocean protection, peace and security, sustainable consumer behavior and the reduction of inequality. In addition, all children worldwide are to be granted access to free primary education and discrimination against women and girls is to be combated. In contrast to the MDGs, gender equality plays a central role in the SDGs.
In contrast to the MDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals are also aimed at industrialized countries. While the Millennium Development Goals were mainly aimed at reducing poverty in developing countries, the new goals are to be based on the broader foundation of sustainable development worldwide.
Goal 4 – OUR FOCUS
SCHULBANK is fully committed to goal no. 4.
Ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
“So let us take up the fight against illiteracy, poverty and terror and take up our books and pens. They are our most effective weapons. A child, a teacher, a pen and a book can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education is the beginning of everything.”
Malala Yousafzai, children’s rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner
