The World is your Oyster!

My name is Kailathy Kasiki. I was born here in the Iringa region on January 27, 2008. My biological father abandoned me, so my mother gave me the second name Kasiki, the name of my grandfather. I still don’t know where my father is.

When I started kindergarten, I didn’t know my way around school and cried a lot because I didn’t want to stay at school and leave my mom and all the games at home. In the first days at school, I had a lot of difficulties, but the more days passed, the more my mother comforted me and told me that school was a safe place and the greatest source of knowledge in the world, and she taught me to love school. After three months, fear, uncertainty and doubt came to an end and I finally got used to my new life.

When I started first grade in 2016, my mother brought me to school and when I arrived, my teachers greeted me with love and a big hug. I liked school life because I knew almost all the teachers and my classmates. The quality of the food and the environment of the school and the whole school family made me love school, the responsibility it brings, the learning and all the good things in daily life.

In my seven years of primary school, our teachers taught us to trust in God, especially in the challenges of daily life, and to strive to do well in all subjects.

One thing I don’t like about school is the exams. I often feel uncomfortable because I always want to do well and Uncle Edgar doesn’t like it when I get bad marks, but I’ve still managed to get A’s and B’s in every year.

At the beginning of this year, when we officially entered 7th grade, my classmates and I had to stay in a boarding school to prepare well for the 7th grade national exams. My life had become more difficult because I never slept apart from my mother. I was given advice on how to accept, live and love boarding school life.

October 22, 2022 was a day of great joy for me, because it was my first diploma in my life. Of course I was very happy. I had just received my graduation certificate as a sign that I had completed my primary education at St. Dominic Savio Primary School.

I thank God for life and for the rare opportunity that Schulbank e.V. has given me. I thank Uncle Edgar who raised me like a father and who has been a great help to me by guiding my progress in all important areas. I thank all the donors for their great support up to this point. When I graduate today, I will have an A in all my subjects.

I have my national exams in mid-November 2022 and I hope to do very well. After my studies, I would like to become an expert in agricultural topics, especially vegetable and fruit cultivation.

For me, the next challenge will begin in January 2023 at a secondary school.
